Heavy Equipment Operators

 Operators shall wear seat belts before starting the equipment and while the equipment is in use.  Before starting the engine, the driver shall fasten and adjust the seat belt for a proper fit.

       No passengers are permitted on heavy equipment.

 Keep windows and windshield clean.  Eye protection must be worn when operating equipment not equipped with an enclosed cab. 

                   Do not use heavy equipment if its horn or backup alarm does not sound.

                   Turn off the engine before leaving heavy equipment unattended.

                   Do not jump off of or onto any heavy equipment.

                   Keep heavy equipment in gear when going down grade. Do not use neutral.

                   Display the "Slow Moving Vehicle" sign when operating heavy equipment on

      roads.

                   Do not operate backhoes, power shovels and other heavy equipment within two (2) feet from the edge of an excavation.

 The operator shall not use, or attempt to use any vehicle in any manner or for any purpose other than for which it is designated.  A person must not leave the controls of powered mobile equipment unattended unless the equipment is secured against unintentional movement by an effective method of immobilizing the equipment. A person must not leave the controls of powered mobile equipment unattended unless a suspended or elevated part of the powered mobile equipment is either landed, secured in a safe position, or both.
