Purpose:
This program sets forth a plan for the control of any biological or chemical substance used, produced, stored or disposed of at the workplace and is critical to the overall safety and health of our employees.

Scope
This program applies to all employees of Replace with Company Name, temporary employees and any contractors working for Replace with Company Name in Alberta. When work is performed on a non-owned or operated site, the operator’s program shall take precedence, however, this document covers Replace with Company Name employees and contractors and shall be used on owned premises, or when an operator’s program doesn’t exist or is less stringent. The program will provide the basis for safe work procedures, information dissemination, training and control measures respecting the use, production, storage, handling and disposal of any chemical or biological substance that an assessment has determined creates or may create a risk to the safety or health of an employee in the workplace. Replace with Company Name shall at a worksite, develop and implement work procedures that are as safe as is reasonably practicable for the handling, use, storage, production and disposal of chemical and biological substances.

Policy Statement:
Potential exposure to harmful substances is assessed to ensure exposure does not exceed occupational exposure limits. The potential for worker exposure to harmful substances shall be identified during the hazard assessment. Replace with Company Name will ensure that a worker’s exposure to any substance listed in Schedule 1, Table 2 is kept as low as reasonably achievable. Replace with Company Name will ensure that a worker’s exposure to any substance does not exceed its occupational exposure limits listed in Schedule 1, Table 2. Atmospheric testing results shall be assessed before a worker is exposed.
