An excerpt from ISNetworld® RAVS®* Safety plan Subcontractor Management Program

Program Overview

Project procurement procedures require that all subcontractors submit prequalification documentation for evaluation.  Subcontractors will be pre-qualified by reviewing their safety programs, safety training documents, and safety statistics.   Replace with Company Name will ensure they obtain proof of Workers Compensation coverage from their subcontractors. Subcontractors who are not required to have Workers Compensation coverage must obtain approval from their client(s) before they are allowed to enter the work site <1>.

Past performance is a key indicator of future performance. HSE statistics should be obtained and analyzed to ensure that only safe subcontractors are hired.  Replace with Company will obtain a copy of the subcontractor's workers compensation premium rate statement and compare their performance to others in their industry.  Those who outperform the industry will try to be selected whenever practicable <2>.
