The rated load of the crane shall be plainly marked on each side of the crane, and if the crane has more than one hoisting unit, each hoist shall have its rated load marked on it or its load block and this marking shall be clearly legible from the ground or floor. The rated load marking on a hoist must be located and arranged so that it is evident to the personnel responsible for the safe operation of the hoisting unit. [2]
Bridge and mobile cranes must be operated only by trained operators designated by the supervisor in charge of the facility. The supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that operators are trained, carrying out the inspections and following the safe operating rules, [1] including fire extinguisher use.
