An excerpt from ISNetworld® RAVS®* Safety plan Wildfire Prevention Program

This program is designed to reduce the risk of wildfire ignition and spread caused by construction activities. It establishes clear guidelines for wildfire prevention, site risk assessment, safe equipment use, vegetation control, and emergency procedures during construction operations in fire-prone areas.  This program applies to all Replace with Company Name projects located in wildland-urban interface (WUI) zones or designated wildfire risk areas.  This program is administered by the Responsible Safety Officer (RSO), replace with safety person’s name who will ensure the program is in compliance with all State and local fire codes and ordinances.

Responsibilities

Replace with Company Name Management through the RSO will ensure the wildfire prevention program is available to all employees who in the course of work have the potential to contribute to starting a fire, and a copy should be found in a readily accessible location at the project site.   [1] 

Project Managers/Superintendents will:

- Conduct daily fire danger assessments using local fire weather forecasts.

- Suspend high-risk work during red flag warnings or extreme danger levels.

- Ensure job sites maintain clear defensible space and emergency access routes
